Gray hair with henna
Henna will not cover gray: It's written on the product box, and this is part of the culture of hair coloring. But times have changed. And this is no more a choice between going gray or using hair dye commercial.
There are two ways to cover gray with henna.
1. Henna kits that are made specifically for gray hair.
2. Use pure henna powder in a whole new way.
Henna kits for Gray
Most kits henna for gray are 2-step process. Your hair is first covered with a natural, non-toxic mixture of preparation. This helps the gray hair become more receptive to the henna.
There are also cream henna pre-mixed on the market that will cover gray. Most, however, take 2 or 3 applications before the gray is completely covered. Some products, like Surya Henna Cream, are more easy, the 1-step process that claim cover the grays on the first request.
Henna, as you probably know, the hair coats. It opens or no rough up the hair shaft, like most commercial dyes do. And because the gray hair tend to be coarser and smoother than the pigmented hair, henna has a tendency to drag the gray. Therefore, the henna is classified as a hair color semi-permanent. Even the best henna application washes a little with each shampoo. And that's why most cases of 1-step, henna powder will warn against the use on gray hair.
Pure henna powder
Most users are already familiar with henna this green powder. It comes in a plastic bag (Some buy in bulk), and is made from leaves of the Lawsonia tree. To create different colors, other natural ingredients are added, such as walnut or cloves.
If you're gray and you want to use pure henna, you can. This is a long process, but it worked for me and I will never go back to anything else. Light Mountain Henna is good that many other brands.
Before Start
Try a bit. If you have your hair cut, make a loop to use for the test on a strand. Otherwise, cut a small piece of hair from underneath or in the back so that the cut is not entertainment. Hold the hair with an elastic Swatch, and go through the process of staining with this component. This is important because it is the only way to calculate the time leave. Unlike commercial hair dyes, henna varies wildly in how long you'll want to leave it on to achieve your desired color. Calendar for coloring gray hair may be 2 to 6 hours.
Another reason for the test on a strand: ensuring that the color is what you want. Henna on gray hair will come out lighter than the henna pigmented hair. Henna on hair blond is unpredictable. The test section will let you know.
A note on the purchase of henna. Read ingredients before buying. Make sure that nothing in the list you do not understand. Any hair color containing PPD (p-phenylenediamine, sometimes labeled as phenylenediamine, Para-aminoaniline, p-aminoaniline, diaminobenzene or PPDA) is off-limits for reasons of health and safety. However, most henna you are in a reputable health food store will be clean and safe. Hermas purchased on the Internet generally list their ingredients, and I encourage you to read.
Ready, Set, Go
* The first step is to apply an emollient line on your forehead. This will prevent the henna from staining your face.
* Then, mix a brown henna based powder in a non-metallic bowl, with just the hull of the water. Add a couple of beaten eggs before if you want to help keep the sticky mixture. Slowly add water warmer until the mixture is smooth and thick paste.
* Apply to dry hair and clean, free of styling products, conditioners, hair spray, or moisturizers. This is a key.
* Apply to roots first, as you would with commercial hair dye, but use more product – at least one golf ball sized dollop of batter each time you part your hair and apply. Each strand of hair should be completely covered with henna. Use plastic gloves that are included in the package, and apply with your hands to get the most coverage. Continue to separate your hair into 1/4-inch rows, rubbing henna in her hair, until all the gray is covered.
* Yes, the henna stain the scalp – But it is not toxic, and wash the scalp itself (not hair) in a shampoo or two.
* After the gray is covered with the paste, apply henna remains for the rest of your hair if you wish.
* Cover your head with a plastic cap, and coverage of the CAP with a towel.
* Once the time (Or less if you have a short leave in time), remove the towel and plastic CAP and spritz lightly with henna pack of water. Put the cap back on and manually (but gently) rub the hair to coax the moisture throughout the scalp and each hair strand to ensure stays covered with henna. Reapply the towel.
* You can cook the additional color, using a heating cap or hair dryer cap for 10 minutes every hour.
* When the time is, henna rinse your hair with lukewarm water (not hot). Your hair can be very blurred: it is normal for the moment. So, be gentle – Do not rub or tug. Apply a small amount of conditioner soft, like Jason or Aveda color conserve and rinse after about 30 seconds. Do not use shampoo at this point.

How to keep your Henna Fading
Wait at least 2 days before your first shampoo. After that, if you can shampoo every two days instead of every day, that will protect your new color better. Be sure to use a color shampoo safely. Some brands are trying Pureology, Aveda, Jason, Arbonne, and Aquage, among many others.
Note: I do not recommend styling products too. Many color band of them. But if you leave in conditioner that you know henna will not take with her next shampoo, go ahead and use it to untangle your hair and protect it from heat style.
Your new hair color should be beautiful, brilliant and healthy. Because henna coats the hair, it makes the hair look thicker. And best of all, you have your gray without harming yourself or the environment.
