To create a polished look for the week, follow these steps after you have washed your face and applied moisturizer (for dry skin or combination skin) or toner (oily skin) and sunscreen.
• Apply concealer (one shade lighter than your complexion natural) in blotchy or uneven areas with fingers or a makeup sponge to camouflage discolorations. Blend.
• Apply foundation (the same color as your skin) by dotting it on the face and blend evenly with a makeup sponge to create a smooth, even complexion.
• Dust a layer of translucent powder (or pressed powder the same color as your foundation) on the face with a makeup brush or puff of powder to a foundation.
• Apply eye shadows, eyeliner, and / or mascara to highlight your eyes.
• Apply mascara blush just below cheekbones with a makeup brush or sponge.
• Apply lip liner and two coats of lipstick for the final touch.
The minimalist makeup routine
• Apply correction for rough terrain, as under the eyes, and mix.
• Wipe a combination powder foundation in a compact form on the face.
• Apply lipstick.
Example: Makeup and Acne
Claire, a thirty-five years old woman of Caribbean descent, fought against acne for years before coming in my office. She said she experienced frequent outbreaks during each month, but especially before her period. Claire complains not only acne bumps, but also areas of shadow on her forehead, cheeks and chin. To camouflage dark spots, she had to apply several layers of foundation of heavy oil according to each layer in the morning and even apply more throughout the day. I explained to him that his foundation was a cause of its frequent acne flare-ups because the oils of its foundation aggravated the condition. In addition, since its foundation was so thick, Claire would be vigorously rubbing his face every night to remove makeup.
